Above all things: I urge you to study the Word of God on a regular and continuous schedule. Please do not think that if you have read the Word of God once, twice, or even several times that this is enough. To grow spiritually, you need the Word of God daily. Every time you read the Word of God, you will learn something new or be reminded of something that you have forgotten. Learn the laws and observe them, everyday.
I highly recommend that you study science, because science opens up a window of understanding and gives us a greater appreciation of the Lord and his remarkable genius, as well as his creation. Until you have learned about his creation and the wonderful and beautiful complexities of science, you cannot even begin to grasp the awesome and fearsome power of God!
In order for you to obtain a better understanding of the present age, I recommend that you learn more about history in general and the Middle East in particular. History is the continuous story about the Lord, his creation, man, and the relationship that the Lord and man have developed together. The land of Israel has a long and complicated; yet, beautiful history. I believe that it is important to understand Israel and her people, because she and they play a vital role in each of the monotheistic faiths.
I also recommend that you become more tentative to the news locally, nationally, and especially internationally.
I recommend the following books in addition; however, I encourage you to study more.
“A History of the Middle East,” By Peter Mansfield
“The Fight for Jerusalem,” (Radical Islam, the West, and the Future of the Holy City)
By Dore Gold
“Because They Hate,” By Brigitte Gabriel
“Infidel,” by Ayaan Hirsi Ali
“Left to Tell,” by Immaculee Ilibagiza
In order to survive the tribulation, one will need to be willing to lay down their life, in the palm of the Lords hand. To believe in him and to trust him; for all things, through all things. This is a beautiful story of a young woman who did so, during the worst genocide in history, thus far. The purpose of Immaculee’s life was much greater than she realized.
“Auschwitz,” by Laurence Rees
A shocking, powerful story, with an amazing ending. Love truly conquers all and never ends!
“A Shepherds Look at Psalm 23,” by Phillip Keller.
I am especially fond of this book because it was written by a shepherd who has used his personal experience, tending his flock, in order to help us understand why we are often likened unto sheep in the Word of God. By walking us through Psalms 23, he vividly portrays the complex characteristics of sheep and the care they require and how we, as humans, resemble them so closely.
